CHAU, Eddie

 

Eddie Chau was born in Indonesia of Chinese parentage, and loved to paint as a child. He moved to China and became an educated urban youth, working in the countryside in the midst of the Cultural Revolution. Everywhere, he was surrounded by poverty, food deprivation and desperate living conditions. Yet Eddie continued to draw, even if the only paper he could find was bathroom tissue. In 1992, Eddie moved with his wife and daughter to Hong Kong. In 1995, he established “Eddie’s Hong Kong Art” and continues to paint his rural landscapes and urban cityscapes of Hong Kong.
